"Personally, I think my biggest challenge as a model is being able to get a vast variety of facial expressions to come out when shooting. I've been told that in some of my photos I have a bit of a "hard" look which to some may seem like I'm not very approachable but that's not the case. I've gotten a lot better with it as I get more experience with shooting but I'm going to continue working on it as it's one of my challenges as a model."

"I look at rejections as one step closer to being accepted. You can't always be accepted by everyone and there will always be someone out there that is bigger or better in one way or another. You just have to accept that and realize that you only have what you've been given and you've got to make the most of it. As far as stress and pressure go, I deal with it by just trying to relax and stay calm. You can only make things worse if you let stress and pressure get to you. I've found that if you just let things take their course and go about it in a calm and collected way they will always go much more smoothly and in the end things will go the way they should."

"I think what photographers see in me is a model who has a serious determination and the will to succeed in the industry. A model that has a good sense of self worth and above all is modest yet confident. What I would like photographers to see in me is that I can accomplish any challenge that comes my way and that I have a very versatile look that can be captured at any time during a shoot. I'd also like photographers to see that I am not only reliable but very punctual as well. I take modeling very seriously but at the same time I know how to have fun when I get in front of the camera.
"One of the things I think that truly defines a real model is determination. If you are truly determined to become an exceptional model you will do whatever you can to get there. (within reason ofcourse) I also believe that having confidence above all is another important aspect. You can truly tell when you look at a photo if the model is confident because it looks so much more real and natural when they are. The overall quality of the image is just much higher when you are a confident model."

"I suppose I'd define sexy as a look that can be conveyed through the eyes and through facial expressions. To me, most of any look is conveyed through the eyes and you have to truly feel it in order for it to really come out into an image. In some of my images I convey it by opening my mouth a little bit and looking into the camera with the thought "I know I'm sexy." This technique usually works for me but I'm learning new little techniques with every shoot that I do so hopefully my photos can be more and more "sexy" with the more experience I get."

"I think there is a fine line between confidence and cockiness. I don't know any photographers that enjoy working with models that portray the idea that they know more than the photographer does and that the photographer is privileged to work with you. The photographer/model relationship is overall much better when you are able to accept constructive criticism as well as positive feedback from the photographer."
"As far as my workouts go when prepping for a shoot I usually do my regular workout routine and sometimes a little extra cardio. It just depends on where I'm at as far as time away from the shoot date. Usually the day before the shoot I'll make sure that I don't have any body hair and that my face is clean shaven with no razor cuts or burns. I also try to make sure that my hair is at a certain length that makes it easy for styling so that I don't have to spend any extra time throwing it together. I will also generally start tanning about two to three months before a shoot date as to make sure I have a good base tan and the day before the shoot I'll typically use some kind of darkening agent that gives my skin a good, natural, and healthy look to it."

While skateboarding at a local park, Jake was approached by a girl, "she asked me if my muscles were real, that was a first for me, and the only thing that came to my mind was, how do you answer a question like that...ha ha ha." Last weekend, Jake again found himself in a funny and quite similar situation, "I was competing at the Washington State Open Bodybuilding Championships. The awards to the top five finalists were swords and after I received my award I went backstage then proceeded to the side of the audience to sit and watch the rest of the show. On my way to find a seat I was stopped by a girl that gave me sort of a seductive look and then said "nice sword." You can't help but laugh when people throw stuff at you like that. It tends to catch me off guard most of the time!" His most favorite shoot? "Lately, I did a shoot with Gary Gonzalez owner of NorCalBodz Photography and NCB Model Management located in Sacramento, CA. We produced some incredible images while I was there and I was extremely happy with the way they came out. I also liked how we didn't just shoot in the studio, we went all over Sacramento and found some awesome locations to shoot at. I felt very well taken care of while I was there and got a taste of what true professionalism is all about." Jake does not only love Modeling, but he's also into skateboarding, body building and yes, he loves to play the piano as well! More random stuff on Jake? "I'm going to school to be a dentist, my right bicep has a tribal tattoo, which actually stands for my last name, I love to read topics that ranges from health, nutrition to psychology and evolution, and lastly, I enjoy the company of anyone who can make me laugh." The best lesson he learned from his shoot with NCB Photography? "Have FUN... I can't emphasize that enough. When you loosen up and just have a good time when shooting you realize that it doesn't have to be all serious all the time. Shoots are what you make them and if you can have a good time when shooting the entire experience is so much more enjoyable. I found it astonshing at how fast time can go by once you really start to enjoy yourself and have fun shooting."

"I don't know if I really have any particular style when it comes to fashion. I like a little bit of everything really. The surfer look, sometimes I like to dress up for a more classy look. Most of the time when I'm at home I'm just hanging out in gym shorts and a t-shirt really, ha ha.."
Always Exciting. Always NEXT.
