"How I deal with rejections? With an open mind. Don't get me wrong, not that I'm glad when I don't land a modeling gig, that I tried out for; but you can't let it get you down. This is simply an opportunity to learn and grow."

"Diet. Diet. Diet. I'm not talking dieting. I'm talking diet-what you eat and when you eat it are the most important things to master in maintaining a "modeling physique". That's not to say that you can fore go the gym or that you can never down a beer. I'm just saying, eating a properly balanced diet has pulled me through many situations when a gym was not available or inclement weather prevented me from working out."

"Five things that I just can't live without? Blueberries- I eat some form of blueberries everyday, it can be in a shake, whole, or mixed with cereals. A trip to the gym at least 5 days a week- I get cranky if I don't start my day right, which for me means, a trip to LA Fitness at around 5 am, M-F. There is nothing like pumping some iron to get the blood flowing and brain focused. A day to read a fitness magazine once a month- I still love to take at least one day each month to unwind in the Jacuzzi with the most recent version of a fitness magazine, such as EMO. It is so refreshing to read about the latest and greatest fitness trends, check out new supplements, or try some of the new exercises I read about the next day at the gym. Cristophe Hair care products- These products simply gives me the best hair texture, fullness and shine possible. They just work for me and price wise they fall between Suave and Paul Mitchell. And that works just fine for a practical guy like me. Comfortable Undies- There is nothing worse than uncomfortable underwear, especially when you are working out. This is one of the reasons why I started checking out Underwear News Briefs (UNB) about a year ago. They really do provide "all inclusive" reviews on underwears. Additionally, Time Coleman the founder of UNB is great to work with and that's one of the reasons I'm now the writer of the UNB Fitness Corner, BTW, my current favorite undies are the thongs manufactured by PAPI."

"Homage to an Adonis is more than just a coffee table book, it was a collaborative efforts between myself and Dallas based Photographer, Russell Windle. It pays tribute to the first male physique icon, Tony Sansone, in the form of beautiful coffee table book featuring over 55 Greco-Roman art inspired poses, which celebrates the beauty and masculinity of the nude male form."

"Well, the facade of glamour and sophistication will definitely crumble here. If I'm a fashion brand, I will liken myself to good ole dependable, tried and true, Levis. For me, Levis, particularly the 501's personify who I am-easy and comfortable, fashionable in all settings, classic and durable."

"At the age of 40, I weighed 230 lbs and had a 38 waist. The gym, truly does the body good! But in reality, looks and looks alone will not make you a model. It takes a focused and dedicated efforts to put yourself out there, actively promote yourself and tenaciously scan various sites to work, and build good relationships with industry people."

"Well this is a little risque, and most men will go to their grave without being honest about this. But I'm going to "Go There". Although I had already worked as a life model for various art studios, I was very reluctant when I did my first nude photo shoot, in which I knew the pics would become public domain. However Russell Windle, long time Model Mayhem photographer, said to me during our shoot, "Your package is only part of the whole package. It is what it is. The beauty of the male physique, does not lie below the waist, it is the body in total" Russell's words have provided me with the confidence to pursue a variety of gigs, I would not have considered in the past, and boosted my overall confidence. In short, no pun intended, I have come to realize that although my member does not swing when I walk, it's more like a light bounce and that's OK"

"Gary of NCB Photography was great. He knows exactly what I want, the moods he likes to set, the body lines he wants to capture, etc and instructs you accordingly. Although this might sound a little rigid, Gary is so relaxing to work with. He really brings the most out of you, and captures the "that pivotal moment in time. He also thought me to Work it, Own it and Bring it, Not to second guess the photographer and Don't over primp."

"Most funny and bizarre situation I've been in? I was in a rush getting out of my car at the local Walmart, yes I shop at Walmart- and I put my cell phone in the front pocket of my jeans. As I was walking around Walmart, my wife called me. I still can't figure out how. But my cell phone was already lodged within my pocket. I ended up having to push the phone out from around the crotch area of my jeans with my left hand while trying to pull the cell phone out of the pocket with my right hand. In hindsight, it probably looked like that I was doing that deed in the middle of the store! In the midst of this endeavor, a woman and her child turned the corner of the aisle where I was having my trials and tribulations and gave me the weirdest looks!"

"I would love to someday model for 2010 Live Draw. This event is sponsored by Artist Fighting Cancer, an organization based in Dallas. In that event, three nude models strike thirty minute poses on stage, while 10 or more artist paint/draw what they see, while the public come and go as they please to witness artist "capturing the moment". Attendees not only pay tickets for admissions, but can bid on the artist's creations. A portion of the proceeds are donated to the American Cancer Society. I can't think of a better way to mix what I love to do and helping others."

"Some of my goals in modeling are to be featured in Patrick Lentz books "Picturing the Male Nude", Mark Henderson's "Household Idols" and launch my own health and fitness company targeting the youth, in a country with childhood obesity hitting all times high, young people needs role models to learn from."

With Dallas based Photographer, Russell Windle, Darrin's Homage to an Adonis is more than just a coffee table book but it's perfectly suited for generating artistic inspiration, training life models how to pose, use in art classrooms and taking the journey back in time to the days of classic photography. "The classic B&W used in the book leverages the use of shadows and light to cast the perfect separations and striations upon the male body. The 66 pages of this visually stunning tribute also encompass stencil like renderings of classic Greek Culture, and draws a metaphor between the construction of Greek Architecture and body building, all encapsulated with an art deco motiff, with its quintessential simplicity of line, use of Black and White and geometric shapes." Darrin got married in 1997, "However, we have been together since 1988. When asked why we waited so long to get married, I typically reply, 'Well you don't throw a saddle on the stallion over night!" More random facts on Darrin? "Favorite site of pics: David Vance, Favorite Male Artist: Rapheal (singer from Spain circa 1960's), Elvis, Billy Squire, Favorite Female Artist: Madonna, Shakira and Christina Aguilera, Boxers or Briefs? Neither, I like thongs by Papi, I sleep with nothing on, Favorite Food? Italian Seafood Pasta." He further adds that he's a-la-naturale, no deodorants, antiperspirants or cologne, just the natural him! And he loves to cook and will try any kinds of food once. At the end of day, what can make Darrin smile? "My 9 year old son, Riley. You never know what he will come up with. One time when he was 5, he was in the kitchen helping my wife set out ingredients for cookies. My wife would call out the ingredients and he will bring them out to the cupboard, and set them on the counter. As he set the can of evaporated milk, he asked 'Hey it it's evaporated, what's in the can?' Being a parent will make you smile. You never know what to expect and that keeps it exciting."

"Look past the mirror for it is simply the reflection of your outer self. Beauty, sex appeal, and allure are all subjective. Focus and ask yourself, What is unique about me? Market your discoveries to their greatest potentials with commitment and passion"
