His dad gave him his first camera, a Kodak Brownie bought at a flea market when he was just 8. He's an Army brat born and raise during the height of the Disco era. He said that this accounts for his deeply disturbed warped sense of the world around him. His photography takes on different forms and genres, from mild to wild, from normal everyday look to touch of high fashion with his own unique twist. "I truly love taking a premise to the edge of absurdity and then jumping off that cliff. An author I was working with once on a premise for a shoot told me “You have a real grasp of the Gay Pagan Ethic”. I love that! It’s a niche market to be sure, but how many people get that said to them?"

"The thing I love most about photography is the ability to be creative without limit. To be able to let your imagination run free and work with other creative professionals who appreciate and are even inspired by that. I'm not afraid to try anything behind the camera; Sometimes it works fantastically and sometimes the results are truly horrible. If you don’t try though, you'll never know.

"When selecting models, I look for something interesting that I think we can really bring out and make the most of in a shoot. A lot of my models are not typical models by industry standards. I don’t require everyone to be the physical ideal that the fashion industry requires. I try to make the models feel comfortable and confident. It has been said that I am able to earn a model's trust and that shows in the shots. I try to keep my sets relaxed, fun, and spontaneous. Most of the models I work with have limited experience so I try to pass on what I have learned and the advice that has been given to me by my mentors"

"I never really know before I look at the proofs what is going to make the shot. It’s never the same thing in any two shoots I look for. The shots I choose from a shoot are generally the ones that ignite an emotional response, quicken the imagination, or inspire a questioning. I think my shoots are an interesting combination of planning and serendipity."

When asked about his style when it comes to fashion, Robert replied: "My sense of fashion? I don’t have any! I am a very low maintenance kind of guy. I don’t layer, I don’t do fashion brands. I prefer to be comfortable and just pick something clean that I can throw on in five minutes. I do a much better job of dressing models and picking outfits for them than I ever do for myself. That’s the advantage of being behind the camera" Robert's absolute favorite shot is the image of the Canterbury Cathedral which he took few years back, while visiting his sister and family. "It was just at sunset, and the church is lit in gold. I was handholding the camera so there’s just a bit of motion blur. That one has been hanging on my wall for years and it never fails to elicit a reaction from me when I see it." Five things Robert can't live without? "(Lets go for the Awww) My Family. They are the only people I truly need. My MacBook Pro. It is always with me. I believe that we may have melded into a cyborg life form! My Camera of Course, you know that had to be in the list! Books! I am a voracious reader. My personal library has everything from Sci-Fi Serials to my Engineering and Math Texts. Imagination is at the heart of anything creative and must be exercised like any other skill. Reading is my method of feeding and exercising my imagination, and finally, Oxygen. It’s pretty much a biological imperitive." Robert doesn't need alot to be happy, simple things like having his cat roll around his feet, having good times with friends and family and knowing how to enjoy the world around him always gives him reasons to smile at the end of the day.
